AQUAFABA CAKE AQUAFABA is a new substitute for egg whites It is used for baking eggless cakes and macaroons . AQUAFABA is the liquid you get after boiling good old chane . As I was soaking the chanas yesterday, I decided to try this cake . The recipe has been with me for quite a long time . Aqua means water and Fana means beans . So AQUAFABA means water of beans TO MAKE THE AQUAFABA Soak 2 1/2 cups of chickpeas overnight. Wash and pressure cook with enough water above the chickpea level. Pressure cook for 10-15 minutes. Once you open the cooker, drain the water. It will be thin and slightly brownish. Reduce it until it becomes thick and dark brown. The consistency after cooling must be like thick buttermilk.
